The Road to Opening

The road we have been traveling down since our story in the Forum, has been long and bumpy. For a while, there looked to be no end in site and we were traveling without a map for most of it. Who new the act of getting a permit approved to sheetrock and make holes was such a tedious and soul crushing process?

But…there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel now.

We have done the demo…gutting, scraping, tearing and ripping down pieces of history that hurt my heart to do in some cases. However, I hoped to leave as much history behind as I could. Lovers of the old Zandbros will see several items that have been repurposed or reused in their original state. The shelves, that used to house perfumes, soaps, candles and other items on the North wall, will now house books. The bar area, has been gutted but we have kept the bar (and the old wooden shelves behind it) and are trying to repurpose the vintage soda fountain equipment, updating and fixing what we can to keep the ambiance that their antique appeal offered when they were still used in the 90s and early 2000s.

Overall, we just wanted to drop a post to let everyone know that, while the outside looks like nothing much has been going on…our two bodies have been laboring on the inside almost daily to do what we can before the big renovations can happen. It had been hard to try to update everyone when all of the things we had been working on, didn’t really have a “before and after” that you could see a large difference on. Stay tuned for more updates soon.

  1. Why are you messing about with sheetrock? Dilly-dallying with unnecessary things will get you nowhere. How much longer are you going to take at this?

    1. We have finally gotten our permit approved. The hoops they make you jump through with no searchable information on what the next hoop will be, is exhausting. But we made it!
